Balancing & Healing

The Sacral Chakra is all about how we relate to the world around us, our relationships with others, our creativity, our pleasure center, and our digestive system. So in this section we will talk about ways to help us balance and heal our beautiful and creative chakra.

Because the digestive system is so sensitive, it is important to eat a healthy diet, get regular exercise, and drink plenty of water. I get dehydrated easily and I notice that when I have not been drinking enough water my digestive system slows down and causes all kinds of problems. Water acts like a sort of oil for the body to operate correctly. When we have enough in our system, our bodies work like a fine oiled machine with no break downs… even our joints seem to work better. You feel better overall and you have a clear mind. Of course water is not the cure all but it is essential for life and well-being.

Ok, so we’ve talked about the digestive system briefly, let us now look into some other aspects of healing and balancing this chakra.

With the Sacral Chakra, the focus is on creativity… on feeling that sense of pure pleasure allowing yourself to experience the fullness of your very essence. If you are anything like me, you experience life’s essence through touch, feelings, and emotions. For some, they experience the fullness with sight… kind of like a vibrant color that ignites something within them. Imagine that same thing only through touch, feeling, and/or emotion. If you are an Empath and/or a Healer then you know exactly what I am talking about. Another way I can describe it is there is a vibrantly multicolored flame within you… to me, that is the essence of life. We can turn this flame up or turn it down depending on the situation.

Let’s focus on this flame for a minute… can you visualize this flame? Visualize it sitting below your belly button cradled just above the pelvic area. How does it feel? Is it small, just right, or too big? What color is it? Is it a dull orange color or is it a vibrant orange or multicolored flame? If it seems very small and a dull orange color let’s kick it up a notch and see what happens! Imagine a dial that you can turn. The top reads UP and the bottom reads DOWN. If your flame is very small, turn your dial upwards just a little… did it make your flame larger? It did mine. Play with the dial a little bit and see how the flame makes you feel. Turning it up can make your energy stronger giving you more life energy. It should make you smile and feel more vibrant just like the colors and intensity of the flame. When you turn the flame down, you get a sense of calm. If you turn it down too low you may feel very tired and not so much energy. Now let’s play with the colors! Add a color to your flame… any color. I added blue. Make the colors completely separate. Now add another color… I added green. It’s beautiful! Now the colors are larger and burning more vibrantly. Isn’t that awesome! Can you feel and see it?

This is the flame of the Sacral Chakra. Did I just make this up? Yep! I sure did! I used my creativity and of course guidance from the Divine. You see, I kept feeling and seeing this flame within me. My guides kept nudging me to write… to just write whatever comes to mind. This flame kept coming to mind so I wrote about it and it totally feels right to me. That is what happens when we let go… when we allow pleasure into our life. That flame made me feel alive… and made me smile.

Hugging
Yes, hugging… your read that correctly. Scientific tests have shown that the act of hugging or cuddling produces a natural chemical within the body that increases our feelings of love and happiness. This chemical, called oxytocin, is a hormone made in the brain. It strengthens social bonds, lowers high blood pressure, stimulates breast milk, increases intimate emotional communication and is critical to emotions such as love and trust. There are also studies that have shown this natural chemical could help those who suffer from schizophrenia and clinical depression. Pretty fascinating stuff! So… GROUP HUG!!!

Wearing the color Orange
Yep… wearing the color orange can raise your sacral chakra’s vibration. So put on that beautiful orange sweater you haven’t worn in years. Better yet, wear that orange carnelian necklace too!

Foods
Sprinkle cinnamon on your food for a good boost to this chakra as well as eating sweet fruits such as oranges, melons, coconuts, strawberries, mandarins.

Healing Shame
I really love how this site explains this so I’m quoting them directly.
“Some of us might also feel shame and guilt around pleasure due to strict education, contradictory values, or a traumatic experience. Repressed sexuality can lead to serious imbalances in the second chakra, whether it “shuts down” or becomes overactive.

“The energy of your second chakra can be shut down or blocked as a result of sexual repression, whether this movement of contraction has been influenced by the actions of someone in your life or is self-imposed. Chakra healing is important to restore a healthy image of sexuality and pleasure.

Working on trust around sex and sensuality with your partner or sharing your concerns with a trusted friend or professional could be helpful. Nature
The element of the sacral chakra is water so spending time in or near water is beneficial. If you are not able to go out into nature, take a bath. Light some orange scented candles and/or burn some sandalwood incense. Being around the element of water balances the emotions and gives a calming, balancing feeling to the inner core of your being.

Sound Therapy
The musical note for the sacral chakra is D so listening to the singing bowls of this note balances the vibration of this chakra. Here are some great videos on You Tube for sound therapy of the Sacral Chakra.

As with anything… if it doesn’t feel right to you then don’t do it. If any of these that I have listed do not resonate with you then do not use them. Don’t feel guilty about. Do a search on You Tube and see if you can find something that you do like. This is about YOU and your healthy chakra.

So there you have it… several different ways to balance and heal your sacral chakra. Tomorrow we will take a look at negative self-talk of the out of balance sacral chakra and how to turn those nasty statements around! Until tomorrow…
